The investors who buy the stocks need to know all the details about the stocks in which they are going to invest their hard earned money, for this reason day to day information has to be provided about the position of the stocks in the market. This information is known as stock quote.

The stock quote was send by the ticker machine in the years gone by but in the present scenario the information is send through computer printer to the web sites which is then available to the investors through various financial internet sites. The stock quote gives all the information in detail about all the stocks that are sold in the stock market. This has made trading in stocks faster and easier as the trader can get at a glance the price and the demand of the stocks of various companies which helps him to decide that how much he is going to invest and which company’s stock he is going to purchase.

The method used by the financial sites to show the stock quote is very unique. They use specific characters as symbols to represent the company’s name. The total number of shares sold in the market of a company is known as share traded. Price traded means the price of the share in the market on that particular day. Change direction is a pointer to show whether the price of a share has risen or gone down than the previous day. The difference in price from the previous day’s closing is known as Change price.

All these pointers are shown with different colors like; green is used to show hike from the previous day, red is used for fall in price or trade from the previous day and if there is stability it is represented by white or blue.
